Finally Here - Clek Foonf Convertible Car Seat

No Image
Name of product(s): CLEK Foonf Convertible Car Seat
Department: Car Seats
Company(ies): Clek

Price(s): $475+

Why is it exciting/interesting:

Foonf is Clek’s no-compromise convertible child seat—introducing revolutionary safety technology, innovative convenience features, and 100-percent recyclable materials.
The Revolutionary REACT™—
Rapid Energy-Absorbing Crumple
Technology— Safety System.

One of the most effective innovations in automotive safety is the crumple zone, the area of the vehicle that is designed to deform and crumple in a collision. The crumple zone absorbs energy in an impact, preventing it from being transmitted to the occupants. Much like the crumple zones that protect us in the cars we drive, the crumple zone system integrated into every Foonf child seat protects your child, reducing the forces transmitted to the child in a frontal collision* by up to 40%.

  • Aluminum Honeycomb Cartridge
  • Magnesium Sled Housing
  • Steel Rigid LATCH Structure
How REACT™ Safety System works.
In a collision, the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop, but the child continues to move at the same speed. The less time that it takes for the child to come to a complete stop, the higher the forces exerted on the child. The REACT system allows that sudden change in momentum to happen over a longer period of time through a series of controlled events. The child seat is designed to ride down the collision crumpling the aluminum honeycomb and absorbing energy from the collision resulting in less force transferred to the child.
Foonf is built to keep your child rear-facing longer (rated rear-facing up to 45 lbs.)* and protect them in case of a side-impact collision
Rear-facing safety systems:
Anti-Rebound Bar
In rear-facing mode, Foonf’s anti-rebound bar improves stability by limiting rotation of the child seat, helping protect your child’s head from impact in the case of a collision.
Side-impact safety systems:
Rigid Sub-Structure
Foonf is reinforced by a steel and magnesium substructure.
Energy-Absorbing Foam Layers
Foam layers on both the inside and outside of the frame protect your child by absorbing energy in a side-impact collision, resulting in less force directly upon your child.
Structural Headrest with Deep Side Wings
Energy-absorbing foam-lined headrest connected to frame using steel rods provides maximum head protection in a side-impact collision.
Featuring Clek’s signature Rigid-LATCH installation and a narrow width profile, Foonf is the convertible child seat that actually makes a parent’s job easier.
Rigid LATCH
Hands down, the easiest forward-facing installation in its class, our Rigid-LATCH system makes proper installation effortless.
Seat 3-Across
Foonf boasts a super-skinny width-profile under 17 inches wide providing space that makes 3-across seating possible.
Smooth Recline
Foonf includes an easy-to-engage, smooth recline function, making each ride more comfortable.
Integrated Magnets
Keeps harnesses open to make taking your child in and out easier.
Improved Rear-Facing Installation in Smaller Vehicles
Unique design improves rear-facing installation in smaller vehicles by taking
up less fore-aft space.
100% Recyclable
After your children outgrow the seat, Foonf lives on. Clek has formed a strategic partnership network throughout Canada and the United States to manage the disassembly of our seats. The entire seat—from plastic and metal to foam and fabric—is recycled and used to make new products.
Drift is the only Foonf edition that is NOT tailored with Crypton® Super Fabrics. Drift is a sporty edition constructed of automotive, anti-bacterial fabric without a moisture barrier.

Interesting Product of the Week - Boob Design

Boob

The idea behind Boob was born on a cold, windy day in the autumn of 1999.
Mia Seipel, founder of Boob, watched her sister nurse her newborn son in a park in Stockholm, waist bare to the icy northern wind. Then and there, she decided that it should be every woman’s right to nurse in comfort and in style. The answer was Boob nursing wear – a Swedish patented innovation that will make you look great.

And that was just the beginning. Today, they've got you covered from maternity through nursing. Motherhood is an amazing journey and they are here to help you make it in comfort and looking your best ever - all the way from tiny bump to baby at your breast.

B-Warmer nursing hoodie    Nursing top short sleeve Nursing night slip with built-in bra
From Boob:

Clothes made with care for people and the environment

When you buy a Boob garment, you are buying something produced with care. This is reflected in the high quality of the design, the function and the fabric. Less obvious, perhaps, is our care for everyone and everything involved in the production; the people as well as the environment.

Our design

Sustainable and eco-smart thinking starts already in the design of our garments. We always ask ourselves: How can we reduce our environmental impact? Which materials should we choose? And how can we help you, our customers, to care for your clothes in an eco-smart way? Above all, we try to make clothes with a long life, and which will become favourites in your wardrobe, or in another mother’s wardrobe, when you no longer need them.

Greener materials

We strive to always use materials that are optimal for the environment. Since 2008, we have increased the use of greener materials from 20% to 81% (of the total production). Our aim is to make that figure 100%.

The greener materials we use today are:

Organic cotton
Organic cotton cultivation is based on long-term, sustainable and resource-saving production systems. The cotton is grown without the use of any chemical pesticides or fertilizers. When you choose organic cotton instead of traditionally grown cotton, you are helping the cotton farmers as well as the environment. More than 90% of all the cotton we use in our production today is organic cotton, certified by GOTS.

Lyocell
Lyocell is a cellulose fibre made from a fast-growing eucalyptus, grown in sustainably managed forests. The cultivation requires only 5% of the water used in traditional cotton farming. The fibre is produced in a closed loop process, where 99% of the chemicals are continually recycled, reducing pollution and waste. When you choose lyocell instead of other cellulose fibres, e.g. viscose or modal, you are helping to reduce the use of polluting chemicals.

Fleece made from recycled polyester
The fleece we use is made from recycled PET bottles. A good way of using waste and saving on natural resources.

Our production

The majority of our production is based in Europe (with the exception of three knitted garments that are made in China) to ensure that it is as environmentally sound as possible. We do not hunt for the lowest costs. This is partly to maintain a high quality, but also to ensure that people who work for us receive a decent pay. By placing our orders well in advance, our suppliers can plan their chain of production and avoid unnecessary overtime. And, we only work with factories that respect our Code of Conduct.

OEKO-Tex

Our entire collection is certified according to OEKO-Tex Standard 100. This is a guarantee that the garments are free from substances known to be harmful to health. And for you, as our customer, it is guarantee that the clothes can be safely worn next to the skin.

We like to inspire you to think greener

We are constantly working to reduce our environmental impact, at all stages of the life cycle of our products.  But when it comes to energy, most of it is used for washing and drying your clothes. By thinking about how you wash and care for your garments, you too can reduce your environmental impact – and also your clothes will last longer. All garments from Boob have smart tips on the care label.

Last but not least

Your Boob garments are of a high quality. They are made to be used, washed and loved for a long time. When you no longer need them; sell them, give them to a friend, or donate them to charity.

As these products are seasonal, come in store to visit our Maternity Section.
Our Sales Staff will be more than happy to find you the outfit needed to make you comfortable during nursing.

Bugaboo Carry Handle Quality Initiative Notice

Bugaboo Carry Handle Quality Initiative Notice

Bugaboo is proactively reaching out to all customers with a Bugaboo Cameleon or a Bugaboo Donkey to register for a new and improved carry handle for their pram body/seat.

We have learned from customer reports that under certain situations, the white button of the carry handle may pop out when the pram body or seat is resting on the ground or is placed on an unstable surface. If the white button pops out, the carry handle may detach on one side.
An external investigation of these customer reports confirms that the safety risk is low, and no injuries have been reported. While the Bugaboo Cameleon and the Bugaboo Donkey continue to comply with all external regulatory and safety standards, we have improved the carry handle design. We are making this new and improved carry handle available at no cost to our affected customers.

The Bugaboo Cameleon+ carry handle is available now. We expect delivery to consumers to be 2 weeks from the moment of registration, subject to stock availability.
The new carry handle for the Bugaboo Donkey will become available for retailers from the end of January/beginning of February onwards and it will become available to consumers from the end of February 2013 onwards. We are working around the clock to expedite deliveries as quickly as possible. Bugaboo will follow up with Bugaboo Donkey owners by e-mail once the new carry handle will be shipped to them.

As an extra precaution, until customers receive the new and improved carry handle, they should remove their current carry handle from the stroller.
The Bugaboo Cameleon3 (launched September 2012) is equipped with a carry handle that isn’t affected.

The serial numbers of the affected strollers are:
Bugaboo Cameleon Bugaboo Donkey
S/N 04011090900001 to S/N 04031101009999 S/N 170101105300001 to

The new carry handle and information on assembly and use can be obtained by registering at www.bugaboo.com/carryhandle, or by contacting Bugaboo customer service.
We highly appreciate your support in this carry handle quality initiative. Should a consumer ask about this initiative, thank you for informing them about the online possibility to order a new carry handle. If you have access to internet in your store you can help them register on www.bugaboo.com/carryhandle if they have their chassis serial number with them. We have also produced an information card with QR code you can give to your customers. Again, thank you for your help. We very much value your support.

Baby Jogger Versa Voluntary Safety Recall

December 12, 2012

Dear Baby Jogger Customer:

We thank you for contacting Baby Jogger/Brands in Motion regarding your City Versa stroller.  Baby Jogger, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, has decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall in connection with the City Versa.  We have determined that a component part on the stroller interferes with the proper functioning of the fold mechanism, posing a fall hazard to children.   The approved remedy for this recall is to replace the frames for the affected and recalled strollers.

Enclosed you will find a new City Versa stroller frame which meets our quality standards. After you remove the new replacement frame from the box, we ask that you remove the seat, wheels, basket, and any accessories from your original stroller frame and destroy the defective frame.

Before use of your new replacement frame you will need to re-attach the basket and wheels.  Assembly instructions are enclosed for your convenience.

Should you have any questions, comments, or require additional assistance please feel free to contact us at 866-774-7177 between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:30 pm EST, Monday through Friday.

We apologize for whatever inconvenience this may cause you but customer safety is our first priority.

Very Truly Yours,
Mark Zehfuss

Exciting Product of the Week!

Name of product(s): Stokke Tripp Trapp Limited Edition Anniversary Chair
Department: Gear
Company: Stokke
Price(s): $229.99

Why is it exciting/interesting:

STOKKE TRIPP TRAPP LIMITED EDITION ANNIVERSARY CHAIR
TRIPP TRAPP® - The Chair that grows with the child.
The provenance of sustainable design is longevity. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the award winning Tripp Trapp® chair, we return to its origins with a special edition- oiled beech wood embossed with the signature of the designer Peter Opsvik. Accented with matte chrome hardware, it is luxurious but first and foremost, it is timeless, iconic design.

TRIPP TRAPP® is a sturdy children's chair that grows with your child. It lifts them up so they can be included in activities around the table. Children love interacting with the family. In today's hectic lifestyle, it is more important than ever to encourage these special moments of togetherness. The dining table is more than a place for mealtimes. It is for playing, homework or simply just talking, enjoying quality time together. A child sitting at the same height as an adult at a table stimulates the development of confidence. We believe that life around the table is incredibly important.

As an adult, we have the luxury of being able to rest our feet on the floor, allowing us to move freely to get comfortable. For your child, there is no such luxury. TRIPP TRAPP® therefore features a unique, adjustable footrest that brings the floor up to your child. This creates better balance and comfort, as your child can easily shift their weight. By sitting with the feet supported and elbows at table height, your child can move easily and naturally, and use their body without strain.
It's all about support, balance and movement.

  • Adjusts to be used when a child is ready to sit on his own (using additional accessories sold separately) through adulthood.

Learn About "Highchairs"

    No Image  No Image

Feeding your child solid foods will start at approximately 6 months or when suggested by your Pediatrician.

Many people will try to initially feed their child in a swing, bouncy chair or stroller and the results are usually quite disastrous! Since babies are very messy eaters, you’ll spend far too much time cleaning your swing, bouncy chair, etc than you will want to! The only way to successfully feed your child with a minimum amount of mess and maximum amount of ingestion is in a high chair. High chairs are available in many different shapes, sizes and colours. If space is an issue the first few months, then a Bumbo would be the way to go. The Bumbo is made of non-toxic foam that only requires a quick wipe down with a damp cloth when it gets dirty. It holds an infant’s body upright to allow them to sit up as young as 3 months (as long as they have good head control). Remember - the Bumbo CANNOT be placed on a table or a chair as it has no straps, but it can be used on the floor, with or without a tray.

Let us explain to you the many possible features and uses of a highchair, and this will help you make your decision when it comes time to purchase yours. Please remember your child will eat a minimum of 3 meals and possibly several snacks a day, so it is important to make the right choice in this department.
RECLINING: This feature is very important when the child is very young and still getting the hang of sitting up. When the solid feedings start, it will take a lot of energy for your baby to digest all the new yummy food, so much to the point of exhaustion. This is followed by the classic photo that many a parent possesses of a sleeping baby head down in a bowl of pasta! A reclining seat will probably make feeding time for your little munchkin a little more enjoyable if they can be reclined at a comfortable angle. When your child does appear sleepy or is simply out of sorts a reclined position is definitely far more comfortable and since the work in the kitchen never seems to be complete, your child might as well be comfortable while you complete your chores.
WHEELS: Simple. Wheels allow you to move the chair out of the way and if the food simply becomes a little too spread out it allows for easy maneuvering in the direction of the sink for clean up.
ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT: This feature allows your chair to be adjusted for a comfortable fit at most tables and also allows you to dramatically reduce its size when folded. This feature is handy when socializing your infant with toddlers by keeping them safely contained at the appropriate level of play or when snacking at a junior sized table.
REMOVEABLE TRAY: Definitely allows for easy cleaning and let’s face it this is an extremely messy job. Also makes for easy access and removal of your child if the tray completely removes.
WIPEABLE COVER/LINER: The cover has to be wipeable or you will find yourself laundering or even replacing it.
FOLDING: Allows for easy portability and storage of this otherwise bulky item.

Tip 1: The biggest complaint with this product is the fact that they seem very wide at the base. This is a standard that has to be executed to prevent the chair tipping over with a child’s sudden lunging or bouncing motion and as the chair sits quite high the base therefore must sit wider to accommodate this.

Tip 2: If you’re planning on traveling, then you may want to also purchase a travel booster suitable from infant to toddler. They are usually plastic, portable and adjustable.
The award winning Peg Perego Prima Pappa Highchair has many of the things you could possibly need or want in a highchair. It is designed for mealtime as well as napping with its 4 position reclining padded seat. It has a five point harness to keep your baby secure as well as an anatomic leg divider to prevent them from slipping down. The dishwasher safe double tray allows the parent to clean up while the baby can play with a toy on the remaining tray. It also has 3 adjustable height positions, allowing you sit in a chair and comfortably feed your baby. Available in two eco-leather options.

Alternative styling to the classic highchair described above is the Tripp Trapp from Stokke It is more compact and definitely more conducive to the shape and styling of the modern day kitchen/dinning room. Stokke’s philosophy is about bringing the baby closer to you, and them being part of your meal time. The chair is meant to be placed right at the table, as if it is one of your kitchen/dining room chairs. The Tripp Trapp is a solid wood product offered in several fantastic colours, with several styles of cushions and accessories sold separately. The Stokke can be converted from high chair to booster, to desk chair, with a maximum weight capacity of 300lbs!

Portable High Chair
Life with a toddler seems to never stop. Therefore, having a portable high chair is the way to go. Some will clip right onto the table, others will attach to any chair with a back. Either way, they work well with a busy lifestyle.

Boosters
If your older toddler is growing out of the highchair you will probably need a booster. Sitting little ones directly on the chair tends to leave them too low for socializing at the table, and eating properly, and this is something that they need to practice too. They no longer need to be harnessed, and no longer need the tray of a high chair (since they can feed themselves much better now). The booster will put them at a comfortable height for everything. We have a selection of boosters offering variations of styles, sizes, and portability options as well as some options with a removable tray for the messy eaters.
