Manufactured Dates:
Between June1, 2012 & August 31, 2012

HUGS ( Harness Ultra Guard System) Chest pads are affixed to the seat shell to ensure proper positioning and provide resistance to the forward movement of your child in a crash, reducing the risk of head injury.

The affected Boulevard 65 -G3, Pavillion 65 - G3, and Advocate 65 - G3 Convertible car seats were manufactured with this enhanced harness system that incorporated a softer more pliable, non-toxic HUGS pad intended to provide increased performance and comfort. Britax has receieved reports that some children bite or chew on the pads and have bitten off small pieces of the pads which could present a choking hazard, especially in infants.

Look for the white label on the child's left-hand side of the seat near the head/ear area.
This label displays the seat's serial number, manufacture date, and batch number.

If you have not yet received your remedy kit and have concerns that your child may bite the HUGS pads, they can be removed and the car seat can be safely used until replacement pads are received. As always please ensure that proper harness tensioning is achieved.

Recall Notice

Date: June 5, 2012

Product Name: Tots in Mind Crib and Play yard Tents

Originally posted in July 2010 as a joint recall between Health Canada and the CPSC.

Full Product Description
This recall involves various crib tents and play yard tents made by Tots in Mind, Inc. Consumers can identify their tent by the 5 centimetres x 4 centimetres (2 inches x 1½ inches) label with Tots In Mind logo located on the non-mesh portion near the top of the tent.

The dome-shaped white-coloured mesh tent is designed to fit over playards or cribs as small as about 71 centimeters (28 inches) by about 102 centimeters (40 inches) or as large as about 79 centimeters (31 inches) by about 112 centimeters (44 inches). There are 12 plastic clips to secure the base of the tent to the top rail of the playard through button holes along the bottom of the tent. The tent has a zippered side for putting in and taking out the child.

There are no model numbers for these products, however they bear the logo found below and were sold under the following names:
  • Portable Playard Tent
  • Original Cozy Crib Tent
  • Cozy Crib Tent II
  • Crib Tent for Convertible Crib
  • Portable Playard Tent Plus Cabana.
Hazard Identified
These products pose a risk of serious injury or death due to strangulation and entrapment hazards presented by these products if the dome portion inverts inside the crib or play yard, or if the product becomes partially detached from the crib or play yard.

Tots in Mind recalled the play yard tents in July 2010 and offered a repair kit that is no longer available. The company is no longer in business and has stopped all sales.

Health Canada has not received reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these playard tents.
