Updated: Uppababy Peg Perego Adaptor

Our recent posting on the Uppababy Peg Perego Adaptor has been updated and has now been recalled by Health Canada. Click here for the Health Canada release.

From Health Canada:

"This recall involves an adapter that allows a Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Car Seat to attach onto an UPPAbaby Vista Stroller frame. The adapter is two pieces that attach to the right and left side of the stroller frame. It is sold separately from the stroller and the car seat and can be identified by SKU-0091.

The plastic pins on the adapter, which the infant car seat latches onto can break. This pin breaking can cause the infant car seat to disengage from the stroller frame causing a fall hazard for the occupant of the car seat.

Health Canada has received 15 reports of the pins breaking off the adapters. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected adapters and contact the distributor 5514KM Corporation to arrange to receive a free replacement adapter.

The company can be reached on their customer service line at 1-888-502-5514 ext 444 between 9 AM and 4:30 PM ET, Monday through Friday, or by email."

Uppababy Product Information - Peg Perego Adaptor

Updated: Uppababy has now updated this to a product recall.
Uppababy has issued the following product retrieval information. This only affects Peg Perego car seat adaptors sold between March 2011 and December 2011 and is as pictured below.

Uppababy has identified and isolated a manufacturing issue with a limited production run of Peg Perego Infant Car Seat Adapters, SKU-0091. A combination of issues may cause the molded plastic boss (peg) to break.

While there have been no reported injuries, due to their high quality standards,they would like to replace all Peg Perego 0091 adapters. Upon internal investigation and testing they determined that the correct formulation of molded plastic material coupled with a slight design modification would eliminate any breakage moving forward.

Anyone who purchased one of these adaptors should contact the Canadian UPPAbaby customer service team handling this issue at (416) 422-2700 ext 444 or pegadapter@5514km.ca. If you have registered your warranty you may receive a direct phone call as they attempt to contact all consumers. Anyone who registered their name and phone number with Moms to be and More when they purchased their adaptor will also be contacted directly.

A true lightweight weighing less than 10lbs - it also reclines for a 3 month plus baby (or a baby who can hold its head up). It comes in Iron (grey), Aloe(green) and Fire (red).
