How REACT™ Safety System works.

In a collision, the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop, but the child continues to move at the same speed. The less time that it takes for the child to come to a complete stop, the higher the forces exerted on the child. The REACT system allows that sudden change in momentum to happen over a longer period of time through a series of controlled events. The Life Nest is a unique product that can make sleeping easier and safer for your baby. Parents are encouraged to place their children on their back to promote safe sleeping, as a result a lot of children end up with Plagiocephaly also known as flat head. The supportive netting of the Life Nest prevents this by redistributing the pressure of the baby’s head. Tummy time is recommended for children who have developed flat head which is a safe practice when used with the Life Nest. The mesh has many benefits one being the child can breathe freely when having tummy time it also prevents the risk of suffocation if the child accidentally rolls over in their sleep. Other benefits of the mesh include: reduces sweating, accelerates evacuation of exhaled CO2 and allows any mucus or liquids to pass through.

Updated: Uppababy Peg Perego Adaptor

Our recent posting on the Uppababy Peg Perego Adaptor has been updated and has now been recalled by Health Canada. Click here for the Health Canada release.

From Health Canada:

"This recall involves an adapter that allows a Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Car Seat to attach onto an UPPAbaby Vista Stroller frame. The adapter is two pieces that attach to the right and left side of the stroller frame. It is sold separately from the stroller and the car seat and can be identified by SKU-0091.

The plastic pins on the adapter, which the infant car seat latches onto can break. This pin breaking can cause the infant car seat to disengage from the stroller frame causing a fall hazard for the occupant of the car seat.

Health Canada has received 15 reports of the pins breaking off the adapters. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected adapters and contact the distributor 5514KM Corporation to arrange to receive a free replacement adapter.

Recall Notice-- Britax Chaperone

BRITAX ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL: NO INJURIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED

—Recall effects all BRITAX Chaperone Infant Car Seats manufactured between September 1, 2010 and April 30, 2011 for Model numbers E9L952J, E9L952K, E9L952L —

In accordance with the requirements of Transport Canada, BRITAX Child Safety, Inc. announced today that it is conducting a voluntary safety recall on the Chaperone Infant Car Seat.The recall includes Chaperone Infant Car Seats manufactured between September 1, 2010 and April 30, 2011 for Model #s E9L952J, E9L952K, and E9L952L.

On the BRITAX CHAPERONE Infant Car Seat, the harness adjuster ensures that the harness straps can be properly tightened and secured over the infant shoulders and is attached to the infant car seat shell.

The rivet used to attach the harness adjuster to the shell may have been improperly installed. As a result, the harness adjuster may detach from the shell. Should the harness adjuster detach from the infant car seat shell the harness straps will not properly secure the child resulting in increased risk of injury in a vehicle crash.

IF the harness adjuster on your Chaperone Infant Car Seat detaches, please discontinue use of the product immediately and contact our Customer Service Department at 1-888-427-4829.

To address this issue, BRITAX is providing a remedy kit including a harness adjuster clip and instructions for properly installing it. All Chaperone Infant Car Seat owners should confirm whether their child restraint is affected by verifying the date of manufacture and model number. No later than February 6, 2012, remedy kits and instructions for using them, will begin shipping to all registered Chaperone Infant Car Seat owners with affected seats.
